The breed known as the
Turkish Van, was named for an area around Lake Van in southeastern Turkey. In recent years, the name Van has been used to describe a cat (of any breed) that has the coloring of the Turkish Van: mostly
white, but with a few patches of another color, usually the entire tail and part of the face.
