A dog, especially a young one, will romp and play with an owner as long as the owner’s
energy holds out. Not so the cat. The cat’s energy seems to come in
short bursts, and after a few minutes of tearing around the house, chasing a toy or whatever, something inside the cat whispers, “Playtime’s over, let’s nap!”
The cat who has reached his “play limit” may start moving his
tail in agitation, signaling to his owner, “Give me some
space, OK?” A cat simply is not a “party animal,” for his inner batteries have a short life and need to be recharged often with withdrawal and sleep.
