Patch baldness

Another type of baldness (alopecia) in cats is preauricular alopecia, meaning “baldness in front of the ears,” which is exactly where it occurs. Those areas can become thin haired or even totally smooth. It seems most common in breeds that are normally thin haired in that part of the body, such as the Siamese.
