Did the ancient Celts sacrifice cats because they hated them? Not necessarily. Even the cat-loving Egyptians sacrificed cats. Why the Celts chose to burn huge numbers of cats is not known. It appears that Celts, like other ancient
people, associated cats with fertility, and so a mass sacrifice of cats to the gods of fertility had a certain odd logic to it. We still have a lot to learn about the Celts.
